  18. I tried to change my deadbolt lock which was separate from my door handle. The two had a different finish and I wanted them to match. Unfortunately the dead bolt had a different diameter than what is now standard. It’s very hard to bore a larger hole than what is there now so instead I went and bought some oil rubbed bronze spray paint. I wasn’t sure how it would hold up since I open and lock that door everyday and I was spraying moving parts. But I did it about 5 years ago and it’s held up beautifully without a single chip anywhere.

  20. It's not easy to switch out hardware when the local stores that used to sell lots of different designs, now only sell two cheap looking plastic designs. It also comes across as a bit strange when they stop selling lots of simple DIY necessities that always used to be available locally and only put them into ginormous DIY stores that are miles away and not convenient to get to without it becoming a day out, not to mention difficult to return anything unused or unsuitable.
