While Google Chrome is the most popular web browser in the world right now, it is missing out on a key design improvement. While most mobile web browsers now offer an option to switch the address (URL) bar to the bottom of a smartphone, Chrome is missing it. However, it could soon get that improvement.
Google Chrome could get bottom address bar like Samsung Internet
Google Chrome could soon get a bottom address bar. According to a report from Android Police, Google is planning to offer an option to switch the address bar to the bottom on smartphones and tablets. A related flag was also found in Chromium Gerrit (where early features are tested) changes, and it could come to the Canary version (essentially beta builds) of Google Chrome.
It wouldn’t be the first time Google is making this change, though. The company tested the same feature (called Duet UI) back in 2020, and users could activate it through Chrome flags. However, Google discontinued it the same year.
An address bar at the bottom is great for one-handed usage and accessibility, especially on modern-day smartphones that are a bit too tall for one-handed usage, and a top bar is hard to reach.

Last year, Google brought a bottom address bar but only to iPhones. That is some serious injustice to Android users, especially considering Google essentially develops the Android operating system.
