How to Make Quick and Easy Whipped Body Butter

Quick and Easy Whipped Body Butter: A simple, efficient method to formulate fluffy, silky whipped body butter.

Whipped body butters are growing in popularity with customers eager to pamper and moisturize their skin. The process of whipping body butters makes them light and fluffy, and they feel luxurious when applied to thirsty skin. The challenge for artisans, however, is that they can be time consuming and difficult to prepare.

Our Quick and Easy Whipped Body Butter formulation is versatile and eliminates much of the difficulty in creating an array of impressive, quality whipped body butters that will keep your customers coming back for more.

By using these carefully mastered instructions and our recommended tips, you will be able to create your own product line of whipped body butters. Virtually all of our premium quality Vegetable Butters, Carrier Oils, Cosmetic Fragrance Oils, Essential Oils, and CO2 Extracts can be considered for inclusion in your whipped body butter, giving you extensive versatility in your creations.

We chose aromatic, decadent Mochacchino Butter and nourishing Organic Pumpkin Seed Oil as the foundation for our whipped body butter. The addition of Arrowroot Powder helps to reduce the slick oily feel that is common with body butter formulations. The earthy, warm scent of our Vanilla Spice Plant-Based Fragrance Oil rounds out the comforting aroma of the finished product.

Base Formulation

70% Medium-hard butter (cocoa butter will be too hard for this formulation)
25% Liquid oil
4% Powdered starch or silk powder
1% Aromatic

Our Test Batch – Makes one 4 wt oz

79 gr Mochaccino Butter
28 gr Organic Pumpkin Seed Oil
5 gr Arrowroot Powder
1 gr Vanilla Spice Plant-Based Fragrance Oil

Directions

1. Scoop or break up the butter (as needed) and place it in the bowl.

2. Start your mixer on medium speed and let the butter soften up for about five minutes.

3. Reduce the speed to low and add the liquid oil, aromatic, and powdered ingredients. Mix for about one minute to incorporate the other ingredients.

4. Stop the mixer, scrape down the sides of the bowl (do this as needed), and then bring the mixer up to high speed. Whip the butter for five to ten minutes, or until it becomes thicker and fluffy.

5. Transfer the mixture to jars and allow to cool at room temperature for a couple of hours or in the refrigerator for about thirty minutes. This product is best displayed in clear packaging like our plastic PET Jars and glass Flint Jars.

Tips and Troubleshooting

Use this formulation as inspiration and a starting point to test. We encourage you to change up the percentages to achieve different consistencies, textures and final results.

You can masterbatch whipped body butter by leaving the base unscented. As you fulfill orders, simply weigh out the amount needed and gently fold in the aromatic as a last step before packaging.

When working in warmer temperatures, your base may need a helping hand to whip up. Try placing your mixing bowl inside a larger bowl filled with ice to keep your base cool while whipping. You can also put the mixing bowl inside the refrigerator for about 5 to 10 minutes. Then return to whipping at high speed.

Additionally, these formulations have a tendency to melt during warm weather or longer transit times, so they hold up best during cooler months. They can also be stored in the refrigerator during the Summer, or shipped with ice packs such as these.

To Use

A little goes a long way. Apply the butter to dry skin on your hands, feet, arms, legs, and torso. These butters can be used on the face but be sure to use ingredients that are extra light and non-greasy.
